Dear Parents/Carers,

This term, our class will be learning all about the Ancient Romans. The books we will focus our learning on are The Tinderbox by Hans Christian Anderson and The Lost Happy Endings by Carol Ann Duffy.

This term, pupils will be visiting the Great North Museum where they will deepen their understanding of animal classifications. They will also be visiting a Roman fort in the second half term.

For the first half term, staff will take the children to West Denton swimming baths. However, during the second half term, children will be having a second P.E session to replace swimming. P.E. is on Fridays with Mr. Boardman so please make sure your child has a P.E. kit in school all week.

Spellings and homework are given out on a Thursday. This needs to be completed and handed back in by the following Thursday. If it is not completed, they will be required to finish it during playtime on Friday.

Spellings and times tables tests are on Thursday. All children need to know the multiplication tables to 12x12 so please make time for frequent practise. Pupils will be given a login to sign in to Times Tables Rock Stars at home to practise further (https://ttrockstars.com/).

Please ensure your child reads regularly at home every day (for about 20 minutes). Reading books must come into school on a daily basis. We check their reading diaries daily for a dated signature and if needed, children will read during playtimes with an adult.
