Dear Parents /Carers,

Welcome to the Summer Term in Reception. What a year it has been so far. Your children are working well in class and this term we will be focusing on ‘Year 1 readiness’. Key areas of Maths, Reading and Writing will be taught through our chosen topic of ‘Explorers’. This topic was chosen to meet children’s interests—whereby we can ‘Explore’ mini topics such as ‘Dinosaurs’ ‘Space’ ‘Animals’ ‘Under the Sea’ ‘Pirates’ and ‘Princesses’ which have been your chil-dren’s interests so far.

Please make sure your are reading to your child every night. It is im-portant that Reception practise their Read, Write Inc books to build confi-dence and fluency which has a huge impact on their writing.

Homework is given out on Friday to be returned on the Thursday of the following week. We will be introducing some simple spellings into home-work in this last term.

Please ensure school uniforms and PE kits are fully labelled with your child’s name. Remember ear-rings are not allowed to be worn.
