Nursery
Dear Parents and Carers,
Our topic this term is “Bears.”
The children’s interests will be the main drive in their learning, however we will focus a variety of cross curricular activities around the books- “Brown bear, Brown Bear” by Bill Martin, “Going on a Bear Hunt” by Michael Rosen, “Everywhere Bear” by Julia Donaldson and “Biscuit Bear” by Mini Grey, we would also love to share any favourite bear stories that you may have at home.
The Prime Areas, (communication and language, personal, social and emotional and physical development), are the main areas of learning focus, however, we will include literacy, and numeracy where appropriate. Also, the children will be given every opportunity to explore, investigate, create and develop their
imaginations, in both the indoor and outdoor areas.
We are planning to have a Bear Day after half term-parents/carers and teddies will be invited-(dates TBA).
Honey Bear will be paying you a visit soon. Each night a child will take turns to bring Honey Bear home and we would appreciate it if you could spend a little time with your child to add an entry into Honey Bear’s diary about his
adventures whilst staying with you.
Finally-quick reminders-
¨ Clothes-please label all of your children’s clothing-including sandshoes and wellies.
¨ Outdoors-the children spend time outdoors most days, so please make sure that they have wellies, gloves, hats and scarves to keep them warm.
¨ Homework is given out on a Friday—to be returned at the latest by the following Thursday morning—please put it in the homework box provided.
¨ Reading-please change their story book regularly and write in the book title and any of the children’s comments.
As always, if you have any questions, worries or queries -please talk to a
member of staff we are always happy to help in any way we can.
